Safety is not an afterthought — it is the foundation of everything we do. At Adrenaline Adventures, every flight on our Dolomites zipline is built around rigorous standards, certified equipment and highly trained guides. This comprehensive guide explains everything we do to ensure your adventure is thrilling and, above all, safe.
The Equipment: What You Will Wear
Every participant receives a complete safety kit, provided and inspected by our staff:
Professional Harness
We use full-body harnesses certified to CE EN 361, designed to distribute weight evenly across shoulders, chest and hips. Every harness is inspected before and after each use and replaced according to the manufacturer's schedule, even if it appears in perfect condition.
Protective Helmet
Helmets certified to EN 12492 for activities at height. Lightweight, ventilated and adjustable, they protect against potential impacts during launch and landing on platforms.
Pulley and Carabiner System
The heart of the flight system is a dual-bearing stainless steel pulley, connected to the harness via two auto-locking carabiners with safety gates. The system is redundant: even if one component fails, the second guarantees complete safety.
Gloves
Protective gloves are provided to shield your hands during assisted braking at platforms.
All equipment is CE certified and compliant with European standard EN 15567 for adventure parks. Inspections are carried out daily by our technical team and annually by independent external inspectors.
Participation Requirements
Weight Limits
- Minimum weight: 25 kg (55 lbs)
- Maximum weight: 120 kg (265 lbs)
These limits are not arbitrary. They are calculated based on cable tension, travel speed and braking system effectiveness. Below 25 kg, participants may not reach sufficient speed to complete certain sections. Above 120 kg, the forces exceed the designed safety margins.
Minimum Age
There is no strict age limit — instead, we apply a minimum weight requirement of 25 kg. Children meeting this threshold may participate when accompanied by at least one paying adult. Staff assess each young participant individually before departure.
Health Conditions
For everyone's safety, the following individuals cannot participate:
- Those with serious heart conditions or recent surgery
- Uncontrolled epilepsy
- Pregnancy
- Recent fractures or severe joint problems
- Any condition that could cause loss of consciousness
You are required to declare any medical conditions at check-in. If in doubt, we recommend consulting your doctor before booking.
Participation under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited, and staff reserve the right to refuse access without refund.
Our Guides: Training and Certifications
Our guides at Adrenaline Adventures are not simple operators — they are trained adventure professionals.
Training Pathway
- ERCA certification (European Ropes Course Association) or equivalent
- First aid course with annual refresher
- Site-specific training with at least 100 hours of supervised practice
- High-altitude rescue training with regular simulation drills
- Child management training and training for participants with special needs
Guide-to-Participant Ratio
We maintain a maximum ratio of 1 guide to 8 participants. For groups with children or participants with special needs, the ratio is reduced further.
Weather Policy and Cancellations
When We Fly
The activity runs in most weather conditions, including light rain and overcast skies. The Dolomites have a variable alpine climate — do not let a few clouds put you off!
When We Cancel
The activity is suspended in cases of:
- Thunderstorms with lightning in the vicinity
- Strong winds exceeding 60 km/h
- Hail or icing conditions on cables
- Poor visibility preventing visual contact between platforms
If we cancel due to weather, your activity is rescheduled to another date of your choice at no extra cost. You may also request a full refund. Our team will contact you by the morning of the activity if forecasts require a cancellation.
Who Decides
The decision to suspend operations lies exclusively with the on-site safety manager. We do not accept pressure from participants to operate in conditions we consider unsafe.
Inspections and Maintenance
Daily Checks
Every morning before opening, our technical team performs:
- Visual inspection of all load-bearing cables
- Braking system tests
- Checks on carabiners, pulleys and harnesses
- Platform and anchor point verification
- Radio communication tests between platforms
Periodic Checks
- Monthly: comprehensive structural inspection by the internal technical team
- Annual: inspection and certification by an accredited independent body
- Preventive replacement of all wear components according to the manufacturer's schedule
During the Flight: What to Expect
The Briefing
Before your flight, you will receive a comprehensive safety briefing lasting approximately 10 minutes. Staff will show you:
- How to position yourself correctly in the harness
- Body position during flight
- How to brake at platforms
- Communication signals with guides
- What to do in the rare event of a mid-cable stop
On the Platforms
Every intermediate platform is staffed by at least one guide who assists with departure and arrival. You are never left alone. Platforms are equipped with safety railings and multiple anchor points.
Speed
You will reach speeds of up to 80 km/h — exhilarating, but perfectly controlled. The platform braking system is managed by guides and ensures a smooth, safe arrival every time.
Safety by the Numbers
Since our first day of operation:
- Zero serious incidents
- Thousands of flights completed safely
- 100% compliance in annual inspections
- Continuously trained and certified staff
Frequently Asked Safety Questions
Is it really safe to fly at 100 metres above the ground?
Absolutely. The dual-safety system, high-tensile steel cables and daily checks make the zipline as safe as — or safer than — many common sporting activities. Every component is engineered with safety margins well above the maximum designed load.
What happens if I get stuck mid-cable?
It is rare but planned for. The guide on the nearest platform will reach your position using a dedicated recovery system. Average recovery time is under 5 minutes.
Can I participate if I am afraid of heights?
Many of our participants have a mild fear of heights. The preparatory briefing and constant support from guides help overcome initial anxiety. Most people forget their fear after the first section!
