San Vigilio di Marebbe is a paradise of colours and Nature, nestled in the setting of the Dolomites, labelled by many as Nature’s most beautiful architectural creation. It is situated at 1200 metres in the heart of the imposing mountains rich with conifer woodland, fields and hilly pastures. For more than 100 years it is tourism which has given it prominence. Mountain, nature park, legends; summer is multicoloured while in winter one can experience all the shades of white: skiing, snowboarding, ski touring, cross-country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing. The Plan de Corones ski area, which is part of the Dolomiti Superski and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park are the two major jewels, as well as the attractions around which the area’s tourist offering focuses. The 1200 inhabitants of Al Plan de Mareo (this is what San Vigilio is called by the locals), as well as being very attentive to the requirements of their guests (whether they be families, individuals or groups) are proficient in Ladino, the ancient language dating back to Roman times.
